What is the BVGD ?
The Belgian Polished Diamond Dealers Association, represents the interests of the
Belgian dealers, exporters and importers of polished diamonds.
The BVGD is the sole professional organization recognized by the government to
speak on behalf of the polished diamond dealers. Our By-Laws are reviewed by the
Council of State.
We represent all polished diamond dealers regardless of membership. Although
indeed, only members participate in the General Assembly, have a say in the direction
of the Association and elect, every other year, the Board of Directors.
Any Belgian diamond dealer with a Trade Registration number may apply to become
a member. The Board of Directors reviews the applications and is sovereign in
granting membership status.
Our goals is to lobby at any and all levels to facilitate and promote the business and
trade of the polished diamond dealers.
We aim to eliminate any barriers and tariffs that impede trade. We promote any action
that may be beneficial to the belgian polished diamond traders. We also field trade
requests from outside parties to our members.
Some of our objectives are:
- Facilitating the movement of Polished Diamonds in Europe,
- Improving the functioning of Diamond Office,
- Developping, together with HRD, new ideas to improve the certificate,
- Encouraging the establishment of GIA in Antwerp,
- Proposing market-efficient ways to help or finance the diamond trade and industry, etc…
With your active participation we will be ever more succesful in the future.
This internet site is one step in organizing the needs of the polished diamond dealers
community. With it, we hope to improve the communication between our members
and its Board of Directors and indirectly thus with the Authorities.
